This 4-hour course will primarily focus on “Situational Awareness”. We will define awareness for the purpose of surviving a violent encounter and will show you how we can use awareness to help keep us safe. We will discuss the two big enemies of awareness and how to overcome them.
We will also learn how to recognize dangerous and predatory behavior. We will discuss the history of active shooter events in the U.S. and look at current data and trends.
Our instructors discuss the importance of plans, protocols, and systems in response to active violence and briefly touch on how to implement them. We need to consider plans for response to violent attacks both individually and corporately.
We will introduce the FBI / Homeland Security protocol for civilian response to active shooter events; “Run, Hide, Fight”. This class is not intended to teach someone how to fight, but rather to have the proper mindset for survival.
